Colorists I have gotten to know…

Over the past year I have gotten to know several colorists around the world. Today my friend Deb Norman from Australia is my guest blogger. Deb is a member of my coloring team, coloring pages from my coloring books and sharing her masterpieces on Facebook coloring groups and Instagram. Deb runs one of the very first Facebook coloring groups, 50 Shades of Colouring. In this post, Deb shares how she got involved in Adult Coloring and how it has impacted her life . Thanks for sharing Deb !

Meet Deb Norman

Firstly i would like to introduce myself, my name is Deb and i’m a colorist. I have 5 grown daughters and 18 beautiful grandchildren. I am the owner/admin of 50 Shades of Colouring (Mind Wellness) colouring group on Facebook.

I guess i have been a colorist all my life. I used to sit down with my girls and colour in, we would put our art up on the walls for all to see. When the grandchildren came along, we would sit down together at the kitchen table and colour in for hours on end.. boy we coloured some interesting  pieces. I started working in child care and it was at the end of the working day, just before the children went home, we all sat down at the activity table and out would come the colouring pencils and colouring pages. Many a day the mums or dads would come to pick their children up, they would find us sitting calmly colouring at the table. The parents were amazed at how relaxed the children were, when they were usually running around out and all hyped up before leaving the centre.
I too found myself relaxed and not as stressed as i would normally be at the end of the working day. This going to prove that colouring does have the benefits of reducing stress and anxiety. As the years went by i continued to colour and share my love of colouring with others.
Everyday life continued, every day was the same, day in day out.. i was at a low point in my life, i didn’t have any self esteem, i had become a prisoner to anxiety and depression. My marriage broke down at that time (not my fault).. it was the best thing that could’ve happened. I not only got my life and freedom back but the love of colouring again took centre stage. It was at this time that Adult Colouring was the biggest thing since sliced bread.. And this was when 50 Shades of Colouring was born..
